Privacy Policy
StayAfterGrad is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what we do not do.
Educational information only. Not legal advice. Consult a qualified immigration attorney for your specific situation. Full disclaimer
No Cookies, No Third-Party Analytics
StayAfterGrad does not use cookies of any kind. There are no tracking pixels, no Google Analytics, no advertising networks, no fingerprinting, and no session recording tools on this site. We do not embed any third-party analytics.
The site does include two voluntary, privacy-preserving features that involve data processing — an aggregate visitor counter (described below) and an optional newsletter signup (described below). Both are disclosed in detail so you know exactly what happens when you interact with them.
Aggregate Visitor Counter (Privacy-Preserving)
StayAfterGrad uses a Cloudflare Worker to count page views and compute a daily unique-visitor count. This is how the counter actually works — read carefully so you understand what is and is not processed:
- No personally identifying information is stored in plaintext. We do not store your name, your email address, or your raw IP address. There is no account, no login, and no session.
- Your IP address and User-Agent string are read by the Cloudflare Worker on each visit and immediately used to compute a SHA-256 hash of
IP + User-Agent + current date. The plaintext IP is not written to storage. Only the truncated hash (the first 16 hex characters) is kept. - The hash is a one-way function and cannot be reversed to recover your IP address. It is used only for daily deduplication so that the same visitor is not counted multiple times in the same day. The hash list is reset daily.
- Country of origin is read from the Cloudflare
CF-IPCountryheader and used onlyto maintain an aggregate set of country codes (e.g., “visitors from 12 countries”). No individual-level country data is retained. - Under U.S. and EU/UK data-protection regimes, hashed IP-derived identifiers and User-Agent strings may still be considered personal data in some contexts even after hashing. We disclose this processing here so you can make an informed choice about visiting the site.
Newsletter Signup (Optional — Beehiiv Third-Party Processor)
StayAfterGrad offers an optional email newsletter on the homepage. If and only if you voluntarily submit the newsletter form, the following happens:
- Your email address is sent from your browser to our Cloudflare Worker, which forwards it — along with the current page URL (
referringUrl) and a pathway tag derived from that URL — to Beehiiv(opens in a new tab), a U.S.-based third-party email service that manages the newsletter subscription list. - Beehiiv stores your email address, the pathway tag, and subscription metadata on its servers and uses them to deliver newsletter emails. Beehiiv is the data processor for this subscription. Its handling of your data is governed by Beehiiv's privacy policy(opens in a new tab), which you should review before subscribing.
- StayAfterGrad's Cloudflare Worker also increments a simple aggregate subscriber-count integer in its KV store so the site can display messages like “You're subscriber #42.” This integer does not contain any personal information by itself.
- You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every newsletter email, or by contacting the site creator via the About page. Unsubscribing removes you from the Beehiiv list.
- If you never submit the newsletter form, none of this applies. Reading pages on the site does not cause any email data to be transmitted.
No Advertising, No Sale of Data
StayAfterGrad does not sell, trade, or commercially transfer personal information to any third party. The only third-party data transfer is the voluntary newsletter subscription to Beehiiv described above, which is a processor relationship for delivering the newsletter you signed up for — not a sale.
There is no advertising network on the site and no ad-retargeting data is collected or shared.
Local Storage (Your Device Only)
StayAfterGrad uses your browser's localStorage to save your self-assessment checklist progress. This data:
- Is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to any server.
- Can be cleared at any time by clearing your browser data or using your browser's developer tools.
- Is used solely to preserve your checklist state between visits so you do not lose your progress.
Hosting
This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages(opens in a new tab), which may collect standard web server logs (such as IP addresses and request timestamps) as part of its normal infrastructure operations. StayAfterGrad does not access or use these logs. Refer to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy(opens in a new tab) for details on their data handling practices.
What We Do Not Do
- No cookies of any kind
- No advertising networks or ad-retargeting
- No third-party analytics (no Google Analytics, no fingerprinting, no session recording)
- No plaintext IP addresses or User-Agent strings written to storage (only the privacy-preserving SHA-256 hash described above)
- No sale or commercial transfer of personal information
- No collection of personal information except when you voluntarily submit the newsletter form (see the Newsletter section above)
